Sports Car Racing is a form of racing where custom built prototype race cars or race designed versions of sports cars compete. Sport Races are ran over long distances and driven by teams of 2 or 3 drivers that switch regularly. Because of the vast array of car types in the sport, a single race will more often than not include several classes. The American Le Mans Series was created in 99 and featured GT1, GT2 plus 2 prototype classes, the LMP1 and LMP2. Another Le Mans based series beginning in 04 was the Le Mans Endurance Series in Europe. The Grand-Am began in 00 and regulates own series the Rolex Sports Car Series.
